Modern calligraphy classes in the Reno–Tahoe area, designed for beginners and returning students. These quarterly workshops include guided instruction, all supplies, and take-home materials. Join us to slow down, learn a new skill, and create something beautiful by hand.

Join Lauren of Thick and Thin Lines for a 1.5-hour modern calligraphy workshop designed to meet you exactly where you are—whether you’re picking up a nib for the first time or returning to continue building confidence and consistency.

Who This Class Is For

  • Beginners: No experience required

  • Returning students: Anyone who has taken a calligraphy class before, whether you’ve practiced regularly or not at all

Beginners will learn the foundations of modern calligraphy during every session, while returning students will receive bonus materials and optional challenges to continue learning.

What’s Included for Beginners

All supplies are provided and yours to keep, including:

  • Two calligraphy nibs

  • Nib holder

  • Ink

  • Beginner practice packet

You’ll learn how to properly use and care for your tools, practice foundational strokes and letterforms, and gain confidence creating thick and thin lines.

Returning students will receive additional curated materials that change each quarter. These take-home items are designed to complement the session’s focus and encourage practice beyond class.
